CHARACTER NAME: Javik
SERIES: Mass Effect | From Ashes | Personal history
CANON POINT: Post Priority: Thessia in ME3
AGE: 50,000 years old. No really he’s been in stasis for that long and goddess knows how long he was alive before then so….50,000.
APPEARANCE: You will be the voice of our people. -I will be more than that.-
PERSONALITY:
In their time, Protheans adopted many “Avatars”, members of their society that embodied a single virtue. Javik is the Avatar of Vengence. As such, once can come to expect many things from his character—first and foremost being a burning anger and hatred toward the Reapers. While no one favors them outside of those that are indoctrinated, the passion Javik holds for their destruction is borderline obsessive. In fact, for awhile, bringing about the destruction of the Reapers is all that Javik will discuss in any sincerity—he vowed to not rest until the very last Reaper is dead.
Javik’s obsessive drive for vengeance often causes him to have a view of disappointment and frustration with the members of the current cycle. His people had laid the ground work for the next cycle to be warned and to do something to prepare for the Reaper invasion, only for him to awake 50,000 on the precipice of the current cycle’s destruction all because no one had headed said warnings. That’s a lot to be frustrated about. Javik is also rather cynical about the current cycle in general, mostly due to the fact that his people had worked to raise them up to what they are now and to him they are still very much “primitive” species. In fact he makes note of the fact that he is “surrounded by primitives.” His cynicism is nothing to hide either, causing him to be abrasively and brutally honest about what he thinks of them.
This brutal honest can sometimes have the effect of making his comments seem more like epic trolling than anything. He makes comments about how salarians were nothing more than a delicacy and a bunch of eye-lickers in his time, one such comment taking place right in front of a bunch of salarians. All cynicism and criticism aside, however, Javik can be quite the troll as well. For example, in a conversation with Vega, he’s asked if Protheans had jokes and he makes one up on the spot—when Vega forces a laugh and says it’s funny Javik chuckles and says that he had made it up and that humans will believe anything.
Javik is not all negativity, though. As his time in this cycle goes on he expresses belief that they may be the ones to break the cycle and end the Reapers once and for all. For example, during his first visit to the Citadel, he is approached by a curious hanar who identifies him as a Prothean—an identification that an asari and turian overhear. The trio asks Javik what hope there can be for the present cycle if the Reapers had destroyed his. While he initially answers with his usual blunt honesty saying that little hope exists, he is eventually prompted by Shepard to give them hope. This small change also extends to his treatment of the crew later on and is most readily seen in his interaction with Liara post Thessia. When Liara questions why he and his people didn’t do more to impede the Reapers Javik mentions how the Protheans thought the asari would, seeing the potential in her people. He goes on to tell her to not give into the despair, the Reapers greatest weapon, because so long as there is one asari the fight can go on. When questioned if he meant what he said by Shepard, Javik asks if it matters—showing that his pressing interest was more in giving Liara hope than in resorting to his usually blunt honesty.
ABILITIES: Javik is of the Vengeful Ancient class, allowing him to have a minor boost in biotic abilities. One of Javik’s biotic abilities is Slam, an ability that lifts a target and slams them into the ground. It is upgraded to Rank 5. This ability has a recharge speed of 3.2 seconds and a force of 1620 N that affects a 2m radius. He also possesses the unique Dark Channel biotic ability which hits a targeted enemy with a biotic field that does constant damage over an extended period of time. This ability has been upgraded to Rank 4, has recharge speed of 8 seconds, and deals 30 points of damage per second over a 30 second duration. Finally, Javik possesses the Pull ability, which generates a mass-lowering field that causes enemies to levitate in the air. This ability is upgraded to Rank 4 and has a recharge speed of 4.67 seconds, duration of 5.60 seconds, and a radius of 2m. All damage done by this ability is a result of the target(s) dropping to the ground from the height they were lifted to.
Javik is also a soldier, a well trained one—there is a reason he is the Avatar of Vengeance; he has the military prowess to exhibit this virtue. He was also a military leader in his day, spearheading missions against the Reapers and ultimately taking on the task of entering stasis with his people to guide them in the next cycle. From this we can assume that he has leadership capabilities and problem solving skills typical of those in leading military roles.
Outside of his individual skills, Javik is also a Prothean, and Protheans have the ability to “read” people. This ability allows Javik to pick up memories, language skills, and…pretty much any other mental faculty that one would have simply by touch. He was able to sense Grunt’s residual memories and personality by touching the floor in his room, and he was able to learn the human language and the basic information about this cycle just from having Shepard touch him. The information is not just a one way road however, he is also able to project his own memories and thoughts to people from that same touch. Of course should this need to be dulled somehow, it can be.
Note: Since he has several biotic abilities as well as weaponry, I have chosen to limit out the ability of lift grenades. While he still has the ability to use this power, he will be coming in without access to any grenades to make use of it.
POSSESSIONS: His armor he’s wearing, the Prothean memory shard, a M-99 Saber assault rifle and Arc Heavy Pistol. The M-99 will come in with 48 rounds (One loaded clip of 8 and the reserve of 40) and the Arc Pistol will come in with 90 rounds (One loaded clip of 18 and the reserve of 72).

JOURNAL ENTRY SAMPLE:
[The vid feed clicks on, featuring a very alien figure. There is a scowl on his face, and you can tell he is none too pleased with the situation he has found himself in. He says nothing at first, choosing instead to play with the video settings and angles. Finally he seems satisfied with it and lets the video settle so he can speak.]
How amusing—primitive technology proves better than the more “advanced” methods developed by those on the Citadel. At least there seems to be no limit to what I can say here. It does not surprise me that this cycle managed to backwards in their means of communication.
[He pauses for a moment, and he almost growls in thought.]
This place is lacking in old memories, all I see are those that are fresh…and full of pain and confusion—it is hardly a trustworthy place. Whoever brought me here took me out from a fight my people have held a right to for centuries…it would be in their best interest to put me back before I find them.
I will not let them live to make another suffer the same fate if I should be the one to find them first.
